Where I've Been | Launching Our Next Business & Eating Taco Bell In Bed
Wow, you guys.
It's been a minute. Not a literally minute, but literally a ton of minutes.
I have missed writing tremendously, but I have had this fear of coming into the office to sit and write. I start to overthink and think that if I'm writing, then I'm not cleaning and organizing the house enough (which, let's be real, I am always cleaning so someone help me #ocd), or that if i'm writing, I am not investing enough time into my friends/ministry....sooo..
Yeah, all those thoughts make zero sense, so that is why I am writing. YAY.
So, a lot has happened since my last post ("My Controlling Husband" was my last, thanks for the great feedback on that btw!), I'll tell you the big things that stand out to me chronologically because if I don't, you can kiss your afternoon goodbye because I'll go on so many rabbit trails you'll want to poke your eyeballs out from how long you've been reading I always do that I think it's because I get so excited and yesterday we ate Smashburger....oh wait, yep, there I go again...
JULY 1st: WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!
HOORAY! After the first four months of marriage living as homeless gypsies, we FINALLY found the house we could make a home! We felt a call to be in Tempe, close to our church, and in a city with a lot of need that we could implant ourselves into. We were living in Gilbert previously and felt so disconnected (we were pretty far east). Gilbert is great, but we know we are right where we need to be here in the big T.
Our home is super cozy! We are saving up for a new fence since the current wood fence has parts that fall down with every storm (it's endearing, but not in it for the long run). We will be tearing down the garage connected to our house by a darling breezeway and building a two story shop/condo duo. The bottom will be Steve's shop, and the top will be a two bedroom with a shared bathroom and kitchen/living area. Our plan is to rent out the apartments to people who need it, or to rent them on Air BnB. Man, I wish money grew on trees so we could do all of this sooner rather than later, but God is really good at teaching me patience and delayed gratification!
A few pics below (we painted the door after we took that first pic. :) The first photo was the week we moved in! The christmas photos are from last week. I'll take more with the tree up.
If you guys would like to see more detailed pics (a tour of the house), let me know in the comments!
SEPTEMBER 10th: I RELEASED MY DIGITAL DOWNLOAD!
This was a big one for me! I had not shared any of my abuse story publicly, so this was a first. After a lot of wonderful, deep, and intense counseling/therapy, it became so clear to me that using my voice (publicly) was such a huge step in my healing and I knew what God could do with it if I just followed His lead to put it out there. AND BOY DID HE DELIVER. The response has been a testament to God's timing and He just knows what we need when we need it. I am so thankful, and SO thankful for those of you that have chosen to share your story with me in response.
If you haven't already read, you can find RECLAIMED here.
SEPTEMBER 29th: SURPRISE TRIP TO SAN DIEGO
This was such a great way to celebrate My Love's 33rd birthday!
With the recent home buying, and most of our money going towards our next business (at the time) and our continued goal of being completely debt free, Steve did not expect that we woul be doing anything grand for his birthday! So I completely and irresponsibly "relocated" a chunk of our money and booked a lovely Air BnB for the weekend, kept it a secret (barely) for two weeks, and kidnapped Steve from his shop in the middle of the day and hit the road for San Diego with Moriarty in the back seat. It was a lovely long weekend and it was so great to see Mori (and Steve) running in the sand.
NOVEMBER 23rd: THANKSGIVING
We decided to start a new tradition for our first Thanksgiving married. We wanted to have a gathering that wasn't about illusions or "being together just to say we were together & check it off on the list of things families do", sooooooo we publicly invited anyone and everyone who needed a loving home to go to for the day. It was such an amazing day, and was followed with a weekend with my brother. Ugh. PERFECT.
NOVEMBER 20th-29th: I HIT PRS!
I am [still] not dieting, and loving it. And we seem to find ourselves neck high in Taco Bell postmates delivery weekly. I seem to only consistently hit the gym twice a week, and I mainly only actually PUSH in my deadlifts. BUT I MUST BE ONTO SOMETHING FOR REAL because I've hit PRs each week (only in deads obv). So that's great. I'll just go with it for now?
DECEMBER 6th: WE RELEASED THE GENESIS JACK!
I AM SO PROUD OF MY HUSBAND!
You guys, a little over two years ago, Steve showed me this rudimentary hunk of metal in his garage in California and I was like "wtf?" and now, six prototypes later, we released the Genesis Jack! This is our 4th business and I am so so excited to be partnering with him in this project and I love being his support. I sometimes just sit and just wonder how Steve is so talented AND hot AND God fearing AND good at the sex.....I mean, I just hit the jackpot. I'm convinced.
Anyway *donnnnnt do the rabbit trail Ciara....dooooonnnt doooo it!* I won't spend too much time here talking about it, but you can see more on GENESISJACK.COM or watch the demo video below! We are taking preorders now!
Well you guys! That's all my big points I think I have for now. We were blessed with some wonderful time with my baby bro Thanksgiving weekend, but I'd like to keep photos and such just for us. Some things are just better left super special. :)
I'll leave with some random photos from the last month. Sending you lots of love <3
